The seventh Charity Series of Poker event took place at Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas on July 10, 2016. Once again, it was a complete success when our friends raised nearly $20,000 for Three Square Food Bank.
Three Square Food Bank offers wholesome, nutritious food to non-profit and faith-based organizations, schools and feeding sites that serve a wide range of Southern Nevadans. We are proud to team with this great organization to help raise some much-needed funds for their efforts.
The tournament drew 50 friends to play some Sunday afternoon poker for a great cause and they enjoyed the pre-game cocktail party before sitting down to their tables. Those 50 players used their rebuy opportunity and optioned add-on 191 times before registration closed. Planet Hollywood ran this year’s $300 buy-in tournament RAKE-FREE, $150 of each entry went to the prize pool with the other half benefiting Three Square. The entries, rebuys, and add-ons pushed the tournament contribution to $17,050 for the organization plus another $2,900 raised in donations during the tournament.
There was a $1,000 cash bonus for the player with the most rebuys and that went to CSOP founder Matt Stout. Another $1,000 bonus was awarded to Kenny Levine for holding the chip lead when registration closed. The final six players in the tournament earned a piece of the prize pool and Matt was eliminated on the bubble by poker pro/chess grandmaster Jennifer Shahade.
Kenny Levine rode his chip lead to a third-place finish and Shahade went out in second when Craig Chait defeated her heads-up to when CSOP Event #7.
