On January 29, the Borgata hosted our ninth CSOP event and it was another huge success. The Turbo No Limit Hold’em tournament had a $220 buy-in with $100 of each entry benefiting Support the Kid, a non-profit 100% volunteer organization whose mission is to raise and distribute funds to help children fighting cancer.
Before the tournament kicked off, the Borgata held a player’s party to kick things off at the Gypsy Bar. They provided 90-minutes of fun and relaxation with an open bar and hors-d’oeuvres before cards went in the air. Player’s enjoyed themselves before heading to the tournament area to get down to the business of raising some money for the worthy cause.
The tournament drew 111 entries and two bonuses were paid out when registration closed; Randy Lee earned $1,000 for holding the chip lead and Chris Francia picked up $1,000 of his own after putting 11 entries in the tournament. When the numbers were crunched (cash donations along with the tournament buy-ins), more than $12,000 was raised for STK to help them continue their great work.
The tournament quickly played down to the final table while players had a ton of fun along the way with the fast pace and friendly banter. The last nine players each earned a piece of the prize pool and last year’s winner Jamie Kerstetter was looking to go back-to-back. She fell short of the title in third place and it was our founder Matt Stout taking home the glass Borgata trophy after defeating TJ Shulman heads up.
Our ninth event was another huge success at one of our favorite casinos, thanks as always to the Borgata for going above and beyond in supporting our efforts.
